Please
note the dark red colour on the stern was a client custom request. The
normal / original colour for the stern of the Friesland is green.
Client references- Friesland Model Ship
The
Friesland arrived. It is gorgeous! Please pass my thanks to the folks
who built it and finished it. I could not be happier with their work.
Also, my thanks to Rehaz and Rahana who helped along the way. (Fedex
did a great job in getting here on time and in good shape).
Steve Fitzsimmons - USA, Friesland, June 2005
Original specifications: - Frigate, Hull: Wood, Built: Holland, 1663.
The
Friesland was part of the great fleet of the United Province of
Holland. She was a second rank vessel, built around 1663 with 80 guns.
In 1672, she took part, under the command of De Ruyter’s Command, along
with 77 other vessels, in the battle of Solebay, against the Allied
Anglo-French forces.
Friesland is particularly noted for the particular refinement of her poop decorations and the superstructure of her decks.
